Learn to Share

I have received numerous emails asking me for the syllabus, NO ONE wanted to contribute anything. So to all this exam is a concern, I think we can learn much from each other. But first we have to share. From now onwards, if there is something you need from this blog, you have to contribute to get it.

As I have taken the initaitive to do it, I know you all could too. I just know for a fact that I would be more confident at an exam, if I know the scope and have had practice with past papers.

MCQ’s, Past papers, Any aides to studing, advice are all appreciated.

Worthy contributions will be given proper credit and made avalable for download.

Pathology

I’ve started revision on this and its one of my all time fav’s. However finding a descent book with just the right amount of info is a difficult task. I’m at the moment using “Concise Pathology” by Parakrama Chandrasoma, and also intermittently having a read through Robbins and Cotran’s “Pathologic Basis of Disease” 7ed. I also found a smaller book which helped quickly brush up the facts but by no means was enough by itself called Pathology : High Yield Series.

To check your knowledge a series of questions in USMLE format with answers explained that I found most interesting is the book “Robbins review of Pathology”.

For all of your convenience I include links to download the ebook versions of these books:

DIscussions and other sources are welcome.

ERPM Syllabus

I have the syllabus now scanned and ocr’d. This covers all the 7 subjects and I think is more or less complete. I have become paranoic lately, so I decided not to post it online. Instead if someone really wants it, they can mail me at erpmsl@gmail.com

Please do include which university you attended to / attending, and of course your name, to which I will be happy to reply with the file.

Soon I will start discussing study material.

ACT 16

Well this is just what this exam was previously known as. Weird I should think, an exam to be named after an act in the constitution of Sri Lanka. So finally, someone wanted to funk things up and the SLMC came up with this name in late 2005 if my mind doesn’t slip.

With this name change, also came the change of format for these exams. The format of which the exam is conducted can be found on the website of the SLMC, so I see no point it to include here.

I have found amongst my collection of notes, an old copy of the syllabus for the act 16 exams. Generally speaking medical students don’t have a syllabus, as every medical condition affecting the human body is to be studied. However, as a guide in completing the learning task, or to see where you are in your quest for medical knowledge this should be helpful.

I will post this as soon as I can get it scanned.

Any input from fellow colleagues is welcome.

To be or not to be?

In a search to get through these daunting exams, I have failed to see any help on the internet regarding the ERPM exams in Sri Lanka. No one seems to have ever bothered to think that using the net to share and grow is a good idea. Apparently cramming is the only solution.

So i have decided to give that tinge of hope [that sri lankans can and will share for the benefit of others] a small chance. I hope to submit this site to Kottu so that someone may visit and read this blog and start to participate.

This site has its doors open to all people in the medical field. I intend to post many of the aids and study material I have, so that people like me can share, and hopefully those to come.

Comments, suggestions, any study material you have are all welcome. Appreciation, thanks and credits will be given where they are due!
